Nai Yang Beach received significant damage along its beach road. There was not a single shop, bar or restaurant that had not been destroyed – some were simply not there anymore. However by the Thursday after the tsunami the beach had been cleaned up and many of the bars and restaurants were already under reconstruction.

Some shops are still under construction, but the overall picture is that Nai Yang is back to normal.
The casuarina-fringed beach have a few shops, bars, restaurants and a couple of resorts along the beach road. The tourist part of the beach has sunbeds and umbrellas and is very clean, but not so clean outside this area.
There is a large reef one kilometer off Nai Yang at a depth of 10 to 20m for those who like to dive.
The 5 Star ITC Master Tauchcenter AQUA DIVERS Palace is located directly on the beach, less than 30m (90 ft) away from the waterline.

Update April 2006: On my last visit the area was a mess due to lots of digging. Will have a more detailed report next year when things are back to normal.
